It’s not hands-free, so to speak, but BCK-id’s “Color Rings” concept does relieve you from carrying a phone thanks to a pair of Bluetooth rings acting as the speaker and microphone. “It is conceived as an extension of the hand, which makes their use a more natural one, and more comfortable and more attractive as well,” says the creator. The advantage here is sort of the best of both worlds: You don’t have to constantly wear an earpiece, nor do you need to fidget around in your pocket when the phone starts ringing. And I’d argue against MobileCrunch’s Greg Kumparak, who says this contraption looks crazier than you average Bluetooth headset. At least this way people know you’re supposed to be talking on the phone, and not just talking to yourself out of the blue. [BCK-id via MobileCrunch]
