Blackberry Pearl 9100 To Get Full Qwerty?
By Chris Weiss
Rumors and photos are pointing to a Blackberry Pearl 9100 with a Qwerty keyboard option. For non-Blackberry users, the Pearl is Blackberry’s super-slim model, which has traditionally made use of its lessened dial footprint with a SureType keypad, a compounded Qwerty layout with two letters on most of the keys. The 9100 will reportedly come in both SureType and Qwerty varieties.
The information on the Qwerty possibility came from a website called TrueSupplier, which offers a replacement Qwerty for the not-yet-debuted 9100. So, the news is far from 100 percent yet, but it’s looking like a good possibility.
Unless something else on the Pearl has changed, the Qwerty keypad should be useful to small children and the guy on the Burger King commercial who doesn’t like eating BK double cheeseburgers because of his tiny hands. However, I’m not a big fan of the SureType keypad, but love the slim profile of the Pearl. I’d love to put thumbs to a full-Qwerty Pearl to at least give it a try. [via Crackberry]
