Blackberry Outage Confirmed By RIM, They’re Working On It

If you own a Blackberry, you probably noticed that its most beloved function wasn’t working so well today. Research In Motion (RIM) confirmed earlier today that it was experiencing problems with its email system. A Blackberry outage caused problems in sending and receiving emails, and customers have been experiencing delays in sending/receiving emails.
On the plus side, only email seems to be affected and Web applications, phone service and PIN-to-PIN messaging were all business as usual. The outage was reportedly limited to North American Blackberry customers and didn’t affect corporate users that are on the Blackberry Enterprise Service.
RIM has stated that it is working to restore service and it has to deal with a drastic backlog of emails due to the 8-hour outage. If you’re still having trouble, you might not want to stray too far from the computer, assuming you rely on your email account like a third limb. [via Channel Web]
