BlackBerry OS 6.0 Leaks, Includes New Browser and Media Player
By Chris Weiss
Thanks to Boy Genius Report and its unnamed connection at AT&T, we now have a solid first look at the upcoming BlackBerry OS 6.0. The new OS features a variety of upgrades that are sure to make owners of older, lesser BlackBerries wet themselves with envy.
The new OS begins with a revamped browser based on WebKit that adds multitouch, tabs and a new favorites section. Multitouch is integrated throughout the software, not just in the browser. Another system-wide upgrade is kinetic scrolling. The new OS also brings a reworked media player and updated home screen with customizable pages that users can flip through with the swipe of a finger. Less prominent upgrades include a new inbox and photos application.
The new OS will be released in June or July. If you’ve been itching for big BlackBerry news, check out the BGR post where you’ll find all the details that anyone outside of the BlackBerry inner circle has at the moment.
