Best Buy “Drops” the Price of Palm Pre to $99, Then Fixes the Error

Over the weekend, Pre Central was reporting that Best Buy had shaved $100 off the price of the Palm Pre, selling it for $99 with a two-year service agreement. What appeared to be exciting news for prospective Pre buyers was actually just a mistake on Best Buy’s part. Best Buy Marketing Manager John Bernier later tweeted that the price was simply an error and that they were fixing it–straight back to the original $199. Bummer. While this is bad news for those in the market for a Pre, it’s surely helped to settle some discontent among Pre owners who shelled out the full price during the month and a half the Pre has been on the market.
