Belkin’s making it easy to ditch your bandwidth inhibitions with its Gigabit Powerline HD Starter Kit. When networking home computers and other Internet-enabled devices, sometimes wireless is too slow or unreliable. This solution turns any electrical outlet into a wired connection; just plug in the adapter and hook up the attached ethernet cable, and you’ve got speeds of 1,000 Mbps between devices in “ideal” circumstances — meaning the actual speed depends on other factors like network traffic, interference and “building materials.” I’m thinking this would work wonderfully for streaming HD video from one computer to another or hosting a multi-room Halo party.
