Barnes and Noble Launches E-Book Store

B&N ebooks

Barnes & Noble has officially launched its e-book store, which includes around 700,000 titles for sale, averaging $10 each. Both Mac and PC users will be able to read the titles through an updated version of Fictionwise’s e-reader application, while users of iPhone, iPod Touch and Blackberry can use respective device apps to view the e-books. B&N’s e-book store will also be the default shop for a soon-to-be-released plastic e-reader that will take to the market to compete with the Kindle and other current offerings. That device is expected to be available in early 2010. Unfortunately, when shopping at the B&N e-book store you’ll no longer be able to oggle the neverending legs on the cute brunette in the corner armchair while pretending to read War and Peace. And you’ll have to make your own cappuccino. [via Electronista]
