Forget robbery and murder, the most satisfying arrests these days involve people who spam and infect our computers, and Australian authorities have just reeled in a big one. A 20 year-old man, who won’t be identified until he appears in court, was arrested for infecting 3,000 computers worldwide in an attempt to mine banking and credit card data. If convicted, he’ll face up to 10 years in prison. Even better, police said this man’s arrest will help them find other offenders. In addition to spreading malware, he allegedly bombarded computer systems with denial of service attacks — the same kind of attacks that brought down Twitter and Facebook last week. You can’t argue that these are crimes of passion, so if this guy is found guilty, I hope he rots behind bars, with no computer time, of course. [via Yahoo]

Good. Round up the rest of the losers who make malware and shoot them.
