Apple’s Steve Jobs has been making headlines over the past few weeks, responding directly to customer’s email inquiries. It seems that he should talk to his partners over at AT&T.

Earlier this week, an AT&T customer named Giorgio Galante emailed AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson with some complaints about the company’s new data plans. He didn’t hear anything back, so he emailed a second time.

Now, I doubt Galante was expecting to hear back directly from Stephenson, but he also wasn’t expecting to get threatened. According to his account, an AT&T rep left a voicemail that essentially said the company would be sending a cease and desist letter if he bothered the CEO again. Seems to me that a simple email response (even if just a bs “We’re always glad to hear feedback from our customers and will carefully consider your views in the future.”) would have gone a much longer way than a threatening phone call.

Unfortunately for AT&T, Galante took to the ‘net and blogged about the entire experience. And you know how news outlets are–they just love themselves a juicy story that makes a major corporation look toolish, so news of the incident spread quickly.

Well, AT&T has apologized for the incident and a Sr. VP even called Galante directly to take responsibility. I don’t know if AT&T really looks any better since the main reason behind the apology is undoubtedly the media attention the incident earned, but at least they took care of business. As for Galante, he would have liked to hear from Stephenson himself and still plans to switch over to a Sprint EVO. [via TG Daily]
