AT&T to Improve Its Network for IPhone
It’s amazing what a little competition can do. Teetering on the brink of losing its iPhone exclusivity, AT&T has now shown that it is committed to making the network improvements necessary to bringing service up to par on America’s favorite smartphone. If Apple does open the iPhone up to other carriers, as is expected at its event tomorrow, this may prove to be too little too late.
Whatever the case, Apple is apparently impressed by AT&T’s plans. Chief Operating Officer Tim Cook stated: “We have personally reviewed these plans, and we have very high confidence that they will make significant progress toward fixing them.”
According to BusinessWeek, Cook didn’t bite when asked if Apple would be expanding to other wireless carriers.
So one way or another, iPhone users should expect better service in the future. Maybe if Verizon picks up enough steam, we’ll even see tethering. [via BusinessWeek]
