ASUS Announces Several Tablets For This Year and Next
By Chris Weiss
ASUS is hitting the tablet market swinging late this year, and will offer a variety of devices at different price points between this year and next. The first tablet, which is bound to be pretty unpopular, is the Eee Pad EP121. Sounding more like a laptop in a tablet’s body, the Eee Pad EP121 gets a 12-inch screen, Windows 7 Home Premium and an Intel Core 2 Duo processor. It will come with a keyboard dock and will sell for a too-expensive-for-a-tablet price of $1,000.
ASUS will wait until next year to join the actual tablet market, when it offers a 10-inch device with ARM processor and Windows Embedded Compact 7. That one will slide in at a much more reasonable price between $400 and $500. That tablet will launch in January, and in March, Asus will follow it up with an Android tablet that costs under $400.
