Apple Unveils New Mac Mini
By Chris Weiss
All of the hype today may be on the iPhone 4–or lack of the iPhone 4–but Apple has a second hardware story: a new Mac Mini. Apple announced the new Mini today. The new Mini gets a few upgrades including enhanced specs, an aluminum unibody, SD card slot and an HDMI output, which promises to make it an even more attractive HTPC option. The base model is powered by a 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo CPU with NVIDIA GeForce 320M and offers 2GB of RAM and a 320GB HDD. That model prices in at $699.
As always, there are plenty of customization options available including 500 GB hard drive, 8 GB of RAM, wireless keyboard and Magic Mouse. The Mac Mini is also available with Mac OS X Snow Leopard Server, 2.66 GHz Core 2 Duo, 4 GB of RAM and two 500 GB hard drives. That model carries a retail tag of $999.
The new Minis begin shipping today and can be purchased at Apple.com. Luckily, they’re not attached to AT&T, so there should be no technical issues.
