Apple to Offer $10,000 Worth of Free Music to 10 Billionth iTunes Customer
By Chris Weiss
If you follow tech headlines regularly, you surely already know that Apple is approaching the 10 billionth iTunes download. Originally, we weren’t going to cover it until it actually happens–how many stories do you really need about that? However, this juicy tidbit is definitely worth knowing before the milestone occurs: Apple will offer the lucky 10 billionth buyer $10, 000 worth of free iTunes music in the form of an iTunes gift card. The Countdown to 10 Billion Song Downloads is on now.
In other words, ditch this article and start downloading new music now–you have as good a chance as anyone. Contestants must be at least 13 years old and reside in a participating country. They can register up to 25 entries per day. You don’t even have to buy music, as Apple has an alternative entry form that you can fill out to be part of the contest without buying anything. According to the contest site, if Apple receives the alternative entry form after the 999,999,999 download and before the big number 10 billion, you win without actually buying the 10 billionth song.
At the time of publishing, the count was at around 982, 545,000. Check out the contest site for more info. [via PC World]
