Apple Tablet Reportedly Aims to Revolutionize Print Media
By Chris Weiss
Everyone’s likely had their fill of Apple Tablet rumors at this point, but this one goes beyond the speculated price, date and spec sheet. Gizmodo is reporting that Apple has been in conversation with various print media publishers, including the New York Times, McGraw Hill and Oberlin Press toward putting newspaper and text book content onto iTunes for use on a new device. While this doesn’t sound that much different from what an e-reader already does, the eventual goal is reportedly to establish hybridized content that blends audio, video and interactive graphics into one seamless user experience. Apple also recently hosted executives from a large magazine group and interactive content was a focal point for discussion. Since the print media industry is struggling at the moment, it’s not that much of a stretch to think that its members are actively working to redefine the media experience, and an Apple Tablet would seem to make for a perfect platform. Yet one more rumor we’ll have to wait out. [Gizmodo via Apple Insider]
