Apple announced today that the iPad will officially go global on May 28. Nine countries will get the iPad on this day: Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the UK. Pre-orders will commence after this weekend on Monday, May 10. All you international customers who have been waiting patiently for your chance at an iPad are almost through the wait.
Apple will be releasing the iPad in a second surge of countries in July. These countries include Austria, Belgium, Hong Kong, Ireland, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand and Singapore.
Here in the U.S. where the iPad launched April 3, the tablet has sold over a million units. IPad owners have downloaded over 12 million apps and 1.5 million e-books. [via Apple]
