appleactivitymonitor iExtreme? Apple Patents Sports Activity Monitors

Skiers, snowboarders and bikers may someday join the Apple fanboy ranks if the company’s sports activity monitor patents become real products. An uncovered patent filing shows how these extreme sports could be enhanced with pressure, speed and loft sensors (to detect air time). A microprocessor would calculate pertinent data and spit it back to the user on an LCD or LED display. Strangest of all, the patent talks of comparing one user’s power measurements to another, with the specific example of comparing someone who drank cocktails for part of the ski trip to someone who pounded the slopes all day. Is this the next big thing from Apple or an idea that was tossed around for a while and ultimately discarded? We may, or may not, find out. [AppleInsider via Engadget]
