iphone 3g s Apple Joins In The AT&T/Verizon Ad Wars

It’s a simple little lesson we all learned as children: when you’re getting beat up by a bigger, tougher bully, you get a friend to come help you out. Two is always better than one. At least usually.

While we’re not suggesting AT&T asked for Apple’s muscle, perhaps Apple decided to throw out a few jabs as a friendly savior, protecting its own interests in the process. After all, you wouldn’t just stand by and let your close friend take a beating–especially not when you have all kinds of money tied up with him.

Apple’s latest round of ads takes a few quick pokes at Verizon, whose AT&T coverage maps are now infamous. Far from a full-on assault, the ads are dressed up like traditional iPhone ads albeit with a subtle “Can your phone and your network do that?” thrown in at the end. Not exactly the big-brother bully beat down you wanted to see as a kid, but more of a proverbial warning shove that won’t likely escalate to much of anything.
