Nice Apples Apple Is Just FIng With Pervs Now, Pulls Explicit Section

It really seems like Apple is having a little fun at the expense of pervy app developers and iPhone users. After posting an ‘explicit’ designation for app developers that conveyed the appearance of an intention of opening an adults only section of the App Store to redirect all the apps that it pulled last week, Apple has removed the ‘explicit’ section. The company told one developer that it is considering adding an explicit section but doesn’t plan to unroll it anytime soon.

To recap: Apple originally allowed developers to offer borderline-porn apps and let them make money off them through the App Store. Then the company began arbitrarily removing apps that didn’t fall in line with some mysterious policy that didn’t seem to ever be in effect, much to the chagrin of developers and freedom of choice advocates. Meanwhile, the company let some of the most overtly sexual (and apparently well-accepted) apps like Playboy stick around. Then it made everyone think they were just reorganizing sexy apps into a special adult section only to pull the section later in the day, all while leaving the door open for offering such a section in the future. What a mind f**k for developers. Get it together Jobs. [via Gizmodo] [Photo: K. Kendall]
