androidmarket Android Market Stinks for Developers, Says Developer

Trying to make a buck off mobile phone applications? Android Market’s not the place to do it, at least according to one developer. Larva Labs’ Matt Hall says he’s only making $62.39 per day on average, even though his $5 top-seling game Retro Defense and consistent top-5 seller Battle for Mars were highly popular. Google even highlighted Hall’s work, but that wasn’t enough to earn Hall a living. You could blame it on Android’s considerably smaller market, but Hall says other factors are to blame. For example, apps in the Android Market can’t include screenshots, but more importantly, users have to select an option to even see paid apps. Other woes include a 325-character limit on app descriptions and failed downloads. Sure, there’s less competition compared to the iPhone’s App Store, but what good is that if no one’s buying?
