Android Gets Its Own Collectible Figurines
By Chris WeissEven if you don’t own a Nexus One, Motorola Droid or other Android handset, it’s hard not to fall for the loveable little Android mascot. And thanks to a partnership between Google and Artist Andrew Bell of Dyzplastic you can now own one (or many) of your very own.
The two have partnered to launch a line of Android figurines. There will be 12 in all, and despite the heartache it might cause serious collectors, they’ll come in blind boxes. In other words, you won’t be able to simply pick out the one you want–you’ll have to buy it and hope it’s a fit (or huddle in the back corner of the store and pull it out to make sure). That sounds a lot like buying pack after pack of baseball cards as a kid just hoping for the Don Mattingly I needed to complete my collection. I’ve got a whole collection of Alvaro Espinozas thanks to that.
Each figurine is 3″ tall and has rotating head and arms.
Series 1 of the Android figurines will hit shelves on February 10. You can buy them online and at select retailers. [Dyzplastic via Dvice]
