Android 2.2 Coming and Bringing Flash With It

Sliding itself right into the great Apple/Flash debate, Google’s Andy Rubin told the NY Times that Android 2.2 is on the way and it will fully support Adobe Flash. Websites based on Flash will now run on Android without requiring developers to rewrite them to accommodate Google’s OS. The new OS is named ‘Froyo’.
Outside of Flash support, little was offered on the Android update or when exactly it will make it to phones, though it will happen this year. It’s not clear which phones will get the update to 2.2.
Apple has openly criticized Adobe and has refused to include Flash support on the iPhone or iPad. Rubin, Google’s Android director, took a light poke at Apple in stating that being open “”means not being militant about the things consumer are actually enjoying.”
