AHA Nintendo American Heart Association Gives Two Thumbs Up to Nintendo Wii

Anytime something you do gets an endorsement from an organization like the American Heart Association, it’s a good day. So Nintendo is officially having a good day today as the AHA has teamed with the video game maker for a new campaign called Active Play Now. The campaign focuses on staying healthy through physical activity and lists playing Wii as one method. The next Wii you buy will feature an AHA logo, further strengthening the its position as the active, healthy game console. Nintendo and the AHA will also work together on events and research.

AHA president Dr. Clyde Yancy explained in the press release: “Showing people accessible ways to stay active has been a part of our mission for decades, but our research tells us nearly 70 percent of Americans are getting no regular physical activity. As an organization we are looking for ways to change this. Nintendo has demonstrated clear leadership in active-play video games with the popularity of the Wii system, and I’m confident that together we can encourage Americans to become more physically active.”
