Amazon Launches Mobile Phone Store

Amazon Mobile Phone Store – Remember back in ancient times when Amazon was a bookstore? That is but a distant memory that is getting more distant as the monstrous online retailer continues to broaden its retail offerings. The latest addition is AmazonWireless.com, a site devoted solely to mobile phones. The site, which launched in beta yesterday, offers mobile phones from all those favorite manufacturers, service plans and comparison shopping. Some additional, shopper-friendly features include free two-day shipping and quick, seamless rebate redemption. Currently carriers are limited to AT&T and Verizon, but Amazon plans to add additional carriers and stock while in beta. So, since you already buy everything else you own on Amazon, save maybe for your Ford Focus and German Shepherd, why not save a trip to the local big box and buy your phone at Amazon. [via Yahoo!
