Altec Lansing’s New iPod Dock: Retro-Style with Plenty of Bass
Aug 28, 2009 - By Chris Weiss
Though the press release announcing its debut tries (and fails) way too hard at making the MIX sound like the coolest dock ever (i.e. “The MIX is loud. It’s brash. It’s boisterous.” Boisterous? Really?), the MIX appears to be a quality option for iPod/iPhone docking. The new dock that’s perfect for “unofficial DJ’s” who want “to start their parties with sound” and “keep the party jumping” features a retro rack-style design, specially-designed horned mids and tweeters and 7 band graphic equalizer to keep your music clean. Moving down to the low end, a 5.25″ side-facing sub and 5.25″ passive radiator “thump big bass from the heart of your scene.” Two 3.5-mm ins, dock and FM radio provide the sourcing for your sound–”so everyone can jump in with their jams”. A faux carabineer keeping your remote safe from loss rounds out the cheese factor. [via Altec Lansing]
