Aliph Unveils New Headset: Jawbone Icon
Jan 18, 2010 - By Chris WeissAliph debuted its latest Jawbone Bluetooth headset today. Named the Jawbone Icon, the new headset benefits from a new software platform that Aliph describes as an operating system on a chip. The new software, which is called MyTalk, enables users to access new audio and dial apps via the Web (mytalk.jawbone.com). The audio apps are a series of six voice profiles–from a deep, male voice to a feminine one–which can be used in conjunction with the headset to announce things like battery life and caller ID. The new software also enables other cool functionality like display of the Icon’s power on your iPhone.
In addition to the software boost, the Jawbone is a highly customizable headset that features six different designs. According to CNET, the sound quality is excellent and there are a variety of fit options to make it one with the ear. CNET liked it so much, in fact, that it awarded it an Editor’s Choice.
Some of the basic specs include an 8-gram weight, 4.5 hours of talk time, 33-foot range and NoiseAssassin noise-cancellation technology. The Icon has a retail price of $100 and will be available beginning today online and at Verizon Wireless stores. [via CNET and MobileBurn]
