AirPatrol WLS Finds Cell Phones In Prison

Even in prison, cell phones have undeniably made it easier for criminals to do business, but some new software from AirPatrol makes it easier to crack down. WLS, as you’d imagine, looks at a given area and detects the location of Wi-Fi and cellular signals. A database logs start and stop times of calls, plus e-mails and other messages sent. So even if an inmate brought in a phone through, erm, unsightly means, guards could enjoy the last laugh. In all seriousness, some authorities want the power to jam cell phone signals, an idea that spurs a lot of debate, so this seems like a perfectly legal and viable alternative.
