Acer Does the Tablet With Aspire 1420p

When it’s not entering the third dimension, Acer likes to get all touchy-feely with its Aspire 1420p tablet. Spotted by Engadget at a Chinese press event, the Aspire 1420p sports the usual swivel top that lets you use it as either a traditional clamshell or a solid touch block. The 11.6-inch HD display supports both finger touch and pen input, and Acer adds some software to the mix, such as TouchPortal for drag-and-drop multimedia playback and TouchMemo for creating colorful reminders. And don’t you just love the idea of surfing the net with a finger? Specs after the jump.
Aside from the touch screen, Acer’s Aspire 1420p shares traits with the recent surge of ultraportable computers. It’s got an Intel Celeron processor with integrated graphics, up to 8 GB of RAM, 320 GB hard drive, wireless b/g/n, Bluetooth, a Web cam, a multi-card reader and optional 3G. Acer claim’s you’ll get eight hours of battery life on a single charge. Dimensions are 11.22 x 8.22 x 1.12/1.36 inches — a little thick considering that I don’t see a DVD drive here, but massive by any means. Acer’s got a product page on it’s U.S. Web site, so we should eventually see this here, but pricing remains a mystery. [Acer via Engadget]
