Chances are you’ve never found yourself needing to back-up your laptop on a whitewater rafting trip or deep sea wreckage adventure. However, if such an unlikely occurence were to arise, you’d be glad to have the A-DATA SH93 on your side. This rubberized HDD is fully waterproof and shockproof. According to A-DATA, it can be left underwater (one meter) for 30 full minutes without any causing any problems to your data (though we don’t suggest you put that time to the test).

On the tech end, the SH93 provides 250 GB, 320 GB, 500 GB or 640 GB worth of storage space. It also features a wraparound USB cord stored within a slit in the exterior, keeping your cord in place where and when you need it.

While a waterproof HDD might sound like overkill for most users, the idea of the HDD is to provide some safety and insurance to your files, so if any type of liquid hazard arises–from tidal wave to flood to mud puddle to spilled liquor–you’ll be covered. So far there’s no word on how much that extra little insurance will cost, as pricing information has not yet been provided. It will be available in yellow or red. [A-DATA via Wired]
